📚 Last Day for the Book Fair! 📚
Knox and Ms. Hall have been busy tracking our Book Fair progress this morning and there’s still time to help us finish strong! The Book Fair is open all day until 4 PM, so come by to pick out a new favorite book for your kiddo or drop off a donation to support a student reader. Every purchase helps our school and encourages a lifelong love of reading! ❤️

Can’t make it in person? No problem! Ms. Hall can process debit or credit card donations over the phone through our secure Book Fair payment system. Just give the school a call at (660) 456-7206 to contribute!

Reading in Action: Career Interviews! In reading today, second graders worked hard conducting interviews about different jobs! Each pair chose a job and created thoughtful questions they could ask someone in that profession. Then, they rotated around the room to interview their classmates about their chosen jobs. This activity helped students practice asking and answering questions, building comprehension skills, and making real-world connections to what we read!

The kindergarten thru 7th grade library classes combined their love for books with their creative side and turned pumpkins into book characters. This allowed us to explore characters, sequencing, setting, and so much more. From Pete the Cat to Harry Potter they really did a fantastic job.

Pete the Cat is kindergarten's favorite character to read about!
How I Met My Monster, Yertle the Turtle, and The Very Hungry Caterpillar
How to Catch a Mermaid and Pete the Cat
Harry Potter, Curious George, Ninja Turtles, and A Case of the Bad Stripes
Our high school students teamed up with our guidance leaders to kick off Red Ribbon Week with a special presentation for our 4th graders! They shared powerful messages about making healthy choices, staying drug-free, and supporting one another in living positive lifestyles.

We’re so proud of our Student Council leaders for being amazing role models and helping spread awareness throughout our school community. ❤️

To keep the momentum going, we’re celebrating Spirit Week all this week — each themed day reminds us to make smart, safe choices and show our commitment to living drug-free! GO TIGERS!🐾

Today, a handful of our FBLA members kicked off the Fall Leadership Conference in Columbia, Missouri! This two-day event provides students with valuable opportunities to strengthen leadership skills, collaborate with peers from across the state, and explore future career pathways.
We are especially proud that a couple of the students pictured will also represent our school later this week at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis—an impressive example of their dedication and involvement across multiple Career and Technical Education (CTE) organizations.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the community members and business supporters whose generosity makes these opportunities possible. Because of your continued support, our students are able to attend at no cost to their families, ensuring that every student has the chance to learn, grow, and lead.
Both FBLA and FFA play vital roles in helping students develop real-world skills, confidence, and leadership experience that will benefit them long after graduation. We are proud of our students for representing our school and community with excellence.

Higbee R-VIII will hold Parent-Teacher Conferences on Monday, October 27, from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Parent-Teacher Conferences are an important opportunity for families and educators to connect, discuss student progress, and work together to support student success.

Elementary (PreK–7th Grade): Teachers have scheduled individual conference times with parents and guardians. Families who have not yet confirmed a time should check their email or contact their child’s teacher to arrange a meeting that works best.

Grades 8–12: Parents and guardians are welcome to stop by the school anytime between 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to visit with teachers. No appointment is necessary.

We encourage all families to attend and take advantage of this valuable opportunity to strengthen the home-school partnership and support our students’ learning.
