🏃♀️🏃♂️ Higbee Tigers Track Team Recap!
What an incredible day for our Higbee Tigers at the Harrisburg track meet! We had a select group come out and compete in new events and a few came to get solid reps in.
Girls Team Achievements:
- 100 Meter Dash: Raegan Derboven sprinted her way to 5th place with a time of 14.30. Jayla Schaedel (24th, 16.87), Ayla Griffin (26th, 18.32), and Shayanna DeWeese (27th, 18.61) also put in strong efforts.
- 400 Meter Dash: Kiersten Rockett dominated the field, securing 1st place with an impressive time of 1:10.04!
- High Jump: Ronnie Welch soared to 1st place with a height of 1.57m!
- Long Jump: Kiersten Rockett (6th, 4.31m), Raegan Derboven (7th, 4.13m), and Maddie Seidel (13th, 3.94m) all jumped great distances!
- Triple Jump: Raegan Derboven showcased her talent with a 3rd place finish, jumping 9.19m!
- Discus: Shayanna DeWeese (15th, 17.46m) and Ayla Griffin (18th, 16.55m) demonstrated solid throws in a competitive field.
- Javelin: Maddie Seidel (10th, 21.47m) led the Javelin efforts, with Kiersten Rockett (23rd, 15.34m), Jayla Schaedel (24th, 15.31m), and Shayanna DeWeese (26th, 14.96m) following closely.
- Shot Put: Jayla Schaedel (21st, 5.98m), Shayanna DeWeese (24th, 5.33m), and Ayla Griffin (27th, 3.65m) showed great determination in the shot put ring!
Boys Team Achievements:
- 100 Meter Dash: Aaron Welch powered through to take 3rd place with an impressive time of 12.11! Brayson Harlan finished strong with a personal best of in 13.00.
- 200 Meter Dash: Aaron Welch continued his success, earning 2nd place with a time of 24.23!
- 400 Meter Dash: Brayson Harlan finished 4th with a solid time of 57.21!
- 110 Meter Hurdles: Danny Janssen finished 5th (20.41) while Gavin Snell finished 7th (22.57) showing great technique and speed.
- High Jump: Danny Janssen (2nd, 1.72m) and Aaron Welch (3rd, 1.67m) both performed outstandingly in the high jump!
- Long Jump: Danny Janssen with the first Higbee jump over 18 feet this year (5th, 5.51m), Brayson Harlan (14th, 4.89m), and Gavin Snell (18th, 4.57m) each contributed to a strong performance in long jump!
- Javelin: Danny Janssen (5th, 32.85m) and Gavin Snell (21st, 22.59m) both hopped in this event for the first time this year! Danny now has the lead throw on the team.
Our athletes put forth their best efforts, demonstrating grit and determination throughout the meet! 🙌
Let’s keep this momentum going as we prepare for Friday at Paris. Bus leaves at 1:45.

Champions at last! Congrats to our HS Girls Track team for winning conference for the first time since 2011!
Higbee HS/MS Track and Field competed at our conference meet in Carrollton today. Our HS Ladies placed 1st, HS Boy placed 5th, MS Girls placed 3rd, and the MS Boys placed 9th respectively.
HS Girls:
Sprinting & Relays
Raegan Derboven zipped to 1st in the 100 m and 2nd in the 200 m.
Our 4×100 team—Raegan Derboven, Joey Westfall, Kiersten Rockett, and Natalie Ritter—dominated with a 1st-place finish!
The 4×200 quartet of Ronnie Welch, Kiersten Rockett, Raegan Derboven, and Joey Westfall grabbed another 1st-place victory.
Hurdles
Joey Westfall powered through to 3rd in the 100 m hurdles and 2nd in the 300 m hurdles.
Jayla Schaedel courageously stepped in for the 100 m hurdles, scoring valuable points.
Distance

Ronnie Welch soared to 1st in high jump with a new School Record of 5 foot 3 inches!! She also pushed past 29 feet to place 2nd in triple jump.
Kiersten Rockett leapt to 1st in long jump with a new all time best of 14 feet and 7 inches and 3rd in triple jump with another 9+ meter jump.
Shayanna DeWeese battled in shot put, discus, and javelin, adding clutch points across the board.
Natalie Ritter joined the scoreboard in high jump, long jump, and javelin.
Thank you to EVERY Higbee girl who stepped up—whether it was your primary event or jumping into something new. Your resilience was contagious today. Great day to be a Tiger! 🐯💪

200 m Dash: Avian Deskin grabbed 3rd in 32.03 s; Caylee Davis ran a strong 14th in 36.93 s.

4×100 Relay: Higbee ‘A’ took 3rd in 1:08.21.
4×200 Relay: Higbee ‘A’ sprinted to 2nd in 2:14.45.

100 m Hurdles: Avian Deskin leapt to 3rd in 19.98 s; Gwenna Ritter ran 8th in 23.39 s.

800 m Run: Gracie McAlpin placed 4th in 4:02.50.
1600 m Run: Mya Sears placed 7th in 9:22.69; Gwenna Ritter was 8th in 9:54.84.
4×400 Relay: Our quartet (Sears, Ritter, McAlpin, Ava Welch) battled to 3rd in 5:43.65.
Jumpers
High Jump: Ava Welch soared to 1st at 1.37 m (4-06.00).
Long Jump: Ava Welch leapt 4.28 m (14-00.50) for 2nd; Kylie Sinklear jumped 3.50 m (11-05.75) for 6th.
Triple Jump: Kylie Sinklear reached 7.26 m (23-10.00) for 6th; Mya Sears posted 6.95 m (22-09.75).
Throwers
Shot Put: Shawnee Starks threw 7.41 m (24-03.75) for 8th; Kenlee Wright tossed 6.40 m (21-00.00).
Discus: Shawnee Starks hurled 18.62 m (61-01) to 3rd; Emrie Andrews threw 13.22 m (43-04) for 16th.

4×800 Relay: Our squad (Aiden Freidin, Gavin Snell, Jedidiah Williams,Brayson Harlan) stepped up to earn 3rd place with a 10:49.16.
Jumps & Throws
High Jump: Aaron Welch soared to 3rd at 1.65 m; Gavin Snell cleared 1.35 m for 7th.
Long Jump: Celton Crawford leapt to another season’s best of 5.37m for 6th.
Discus Throw: Jedidiah Williams hurled 25.98 m for 9th.
Javelin Throw: Jedidiah Williams added points with 29.40m personal best for 12th.
